The Four Strokes of Swimming

The Four strokes of swimming are Freestyle (top left), Butterfly (top right), Breaststroke (bottom left), and Backstroke (bottom right).
They all have their own special technique and under-water pull out.
Individual Medley or I.M. is the combination of the four strokes in a certain order. First is Butterfly, then Backstroke. Next is Breaststroke, and finally Freestyle. Each stroke must be the same distance.
One lap across the pool is usually 25 or 50 yards/meters. A 200 meter swim would be would be 8 laps in a 25 yard/meter pool and 4 laps in a 50 yards/meter pool length.
